Learning From Jesus #13 – Shaming “The Wise”

1 Corinthians 1:26-29
“26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise
according to worldly standards,[c] not many were powerful, not many were
of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the
wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God
chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to
bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being[d] might boast
in the presence of God.”

Discipleship

Scripture: Matthew 28:16-20
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus
had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some
doubted. 18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto
me in heaven and in earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them
to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Learning From Jesus #8 – A House of Prayer for All

Mark 11:15-19
“19 And they came to Jerusalem. And he entered the temple and began to drive out
those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables
of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 16 And he would
not allow anyone to carry anything through the temple. 17 And he was teaching
them and saying to them, “Is it not written, ‘My house shall be called a house of
prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.” 18 And the chief
priests and the scribes heard it and were seeking a way to destroy him, for they
feared him, because all the crowd was astonished at his teaching. 19 And when
evening came they went out of the city.”
